By admin - Posted on 11 February 2014

The new paper describes the third and last installment of a survey to find unbound hypervelocity stars that are ejected from our Galaxy.  These rare escaping stars may be a consequence of having a massive black hole at the center of the Milky Way, responsible for slingshotting the stars out of orbit. The newly-found objects bring the total number of known hypervelocity stars to 21.
