III. OBSERVING CATALOGSHectospec/chelle observers are expected to submit their configurations to the CfA at least 10 days before the Hectospec queue begins, which may be well in advance of their own dates on the mountain. Details of this process may be found at www.cfa.harvard.edu/mmti/hectospec/hecto_software_manual.htm
Observers for other PI instruments are expected to prepare catalogs of their observing lists prior to their run and to submit them directly to the MMT well in advance of their scheduled observations. The MMT catalog submission page can be found at hacksaw.mmto.org/catalogs
IV. SPECIAL REQUESTS/COMMENTS
(e.g. computer requirements, IP addresses required, etc.)
ARIES OBSERVERS: Please contact Don McCarthy two months in advance regarding filters and special software requests (dithering, detector readout, etc.)
MEGACAM OBSERVERS PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION REGARDING FILTERS: Megacam has two filter wheels. Each filter wheel has slots for 5 filters. Currently, there are 300mm square Sloan filters available: u' g' r' i' and z', and a set of smaller polarizing filters. User filters up to 300mm square can be accommodated, but holders for such must be manufactured specially and filters of clear glass need to be purchased before the run. Brian McLeod must be contacted several months in advance of the observing if user filters are to be used. There are top and bottom filter wheels, so unless one is using two filters at once (e.g. polarizers), a maximum of 8 filters can be available as one slot must be left open in each wheel. Only authorized MMT staff are allowed to change filters, thus filter changes must be arranged during normal daytime hours.
Please specify here what filters you will be using:
