III. OBSERVING CATALOGS

Observers are expected to prepare catalogs of their observing lists prior to their run and to submit them well in advance of their scheduled observations. The catalog submission page can be found at hacksaw.mmto.org/catalogs/

IV. INSTRUMENT

The MMTO maintains on-line documentation accessible via Mosaic or other web browsers. To obtain up-to-date information on the spectrograph, detector status, etc., load the following URL: www.mmto.org/instruments/

A. GRATINGS: Check a maximum of three (3) gratings you plan to use during your run. Please list the central wavelength(s) at which you expect to set the spectrograph so that, where possible, it can be set up in advance by the Instrument Specialist.

B. FILTERS: Please specify any special filters needed in the upper or lower filter wheels. Remember that these filters must be installed before the spectrograph is mounted to the telescope. Please refer to the telescope schedule.

C. SLITS: The aperture wheel has provision for 7 slit plates. One of these positions has been modified so that its occupant can be changed without removing the spectrograph from the telescope. Normally you will find the following slit plates in the aperture wheel:

1.0" x 180" long slit
1.25" x 180" long slit
1.5" x 180" long slit
2.0" x 180" long slit
3.5" x 180" long slit
5.0" x 180" long slit

You can select one other slit to be mounted in the interchangeable position from the following list

"Comb" - 1" holes on 10" centers
0.75" x 180" long slit
1.00" x 20" long slit
1.25" x 20" long slit
1.50" x 20" long slit
2.00" x 180" long slit
2.00" x 20" long slit
3.50" x 180" long slit
3.50" x 20" long slit
